So last night, I went to this beauty talk thing at uni, given by John Emsley, with Mitra. We got a free drink and cake from Coffee Revolution before, and just sat down and had it, then went into the auditorium for the talk. I have to say, it was a bit different than I thought - it gave a lot of information but it wasn't as fun and informative as I expected. He didn't really explain the ingredients and stuff, just showed us a list of them, which was a bit confusing seeing as they used the phrase "Have you ever wondered why there are 30 ingredients in a Lancome lipstick?" as one of the catchphrases. Afterwards, we went back to Coffee Revolution, where they had set up lots of stalls with fun beauty-related things to do. We got mini massages from a lovely lady who had a BEAUTIFUL golden retriever guide dog, unfortunately I'm not allowed to post up the pictures, but she was so cute and made me remember how much I want a golden retriever :( they're awesome!
But yeah, they also held a raffle, where unfortunately I didn't win anything (surprise..) but Mitra did win some tealights, so that's good!
I do think I shouldn't have gone out though, because I was quite ill already and now I'm even worse!

Free hot chocolate and cherry cake:)

Beautiful stuff handmade by lilidrawspictures was on sale on one of the stalls!

Lip stains

Very Me Clickit Lip Stain - Oriflame
I think it's about time I did a little review on lip stains! I never really bothered to try lip stains, simply because red lipstick just seems to look terrible on me - but when I worked at The Body Shop, I decided to try one of their lip stains, out of pure boredom. And I actually liked it, so I went and bought one from Oriflame! I didn't really want to buy one for £10 from body shop, and this one was like £4 or something! I really really love it! It smells lovely, and it makes my lips look lovely and red, without the fake overpowering look of a lipstick! Definitely one of my favourite make up products!
I've been an Oriflame representative, but I don't get much time now to actually work on it, but you can order one from the Oriflame website!
(Or just buy one from a shop, but I don't know how good others are :P)

A great quality pic..(not)

Took this picture last weekend when my parents and Ali and Hasan's mum and sister came over to visit us! I wish I had some better quality ones because I really liked my hair that day! :( If you want to take high quality pictures all the time, consider online photography classes (I still think this whole online courses thing is an awesome idea tbh! Apologies to those who don't, but I really wish I had lots of free time to do this stuff) and buy a good camera like my awesome Sony one (even though you wouldn't be able to tell from this picture that I actually own an awesome cam eek!)! I'm halfway there - have an awesome camera but still don't know how to use it 100%!! GRR!

The Hunger Games

Oh my gosh I don't even know where to start.
I have been waiting for this film to come out since like Novemeber last year... I got the books and read all 3 in the trilogy in just 2.5 days... yes I am indeed a big fat geek and I love good books! Anyway, this is a movie review so yes...
I don't really like summarising story lines so I think if you don't already know GO WATCH THE TRAILER!!
I did hear a lot of mixed opinions from those who were lucky enough to see it during the red carpet premieres, so I was quite scared (although super excited) to see it for myself.. The books are really gory, and I found out that the film was a 12A (uh!) so I was a bit sceptic...
However, even though they super toned down the gore and stuff, I still think it was brilliant! It made you laugh when you were meant to laugh and cry when you were meant to cry.. I actually heard people around the whole cinema crying when I did!
It was really well made, I do think the only tiniest flaw is the fact they have made it a 12A, it would have been perfect even as a 15, even if the books gore would make it an 18..
The acting was brilliant by everyone, but Jennifer Lawrence was awesome.
It was longer than expected, which for me was great because it meant they cut out less from the books. It's a completely different perspective in the books because it's told from the point of view of Katniss, whereas in the film you get to see the game makers and stuff which was cool!
I am actually going to see it again, in the cinema, because I love it! I would 1000000% recommend anyone to go see it. But first and foremost I would recommend people to READ THE BOOKS!!!! They are the most amazing books ever!
HAPPY HUNGER GAMES!

Coats for Cachi Fashion Show

Den:2012-03-16 Kl: 14:49:01 / Modelling stuff / Kommentarer: 1
On Wednesday night I had the priviledge of participating in the Coats for Cachi Fashion Show at Raynor Lounge.
It was a really fun and exciting experience and I'm so thankful that I was asked to participate as a model.
The purpose of the show was to raise money for a village in Peru, and I think all the work that the girls have done for this cause is amazing.
It's good to know that we can use our career to help those in need. (I'm pretty sure I've written about online classes before but for other stuff, but this is definitely pretty cool for people who don't go uni and stuff!)
Anyway, we modelled 3 collections, as unfortunately one of the collections didn't turn up, and it was great fun! We had New Shop, Oxfam and the Student Union Shop Clothing. I was lucky enough to model a gorgeous dress from New Shop in the first collection, and I fell in love with it so much I actually bought it afterwards ha! Wasn't so lucky with the other 2, as I didn't really like what I was wearing but ah well, it was still great fun :)
There was a lotttt of people watching, which was really nerve wrecking, eek! The first time I went out I was actually shaking when I came back backstage, but it got better afterwards!
I also met some really lovely people, including my modelling partner, Queenie ;) I definitely think it was a success, considering we all had fun, and the people who attended had fun too!
I will post up more pictures soon, don't really have much time at the moment to go through them all as I have a very long weekend ahead..

Boux Avenue

I love this gorgeous little top I got a while ago from Boux Avenue, it's so comfy and soft, and looks awesome on :D It goes off the shoulder a little too, which is lovely! I just had to buy it when I tried it on, even though I felt like a little bit of a traitor to my own store ha! But ohwell, I think they have some pretty sexy and sophisticated stuff in there! I think this was like £25 or something, which is pretty expensive for just a shirt top to sleep in or walk around the house in, but I just couldn't resist! :)

Day Zero

Den:2012-03-07 Kl: 17:01:00 / Day Zero Project / Kommentarer: 1
Ok, so I know I started this like agesss ago, but I did sort of abandon it and I did think I was going to be going to Fiji this summer, but now that that's not going to happen, I think I can try to get back on track with the Day Zero Project.
I have updated the list a little bit, so I am posting the new one here. I have also reset the date of the start of the project to today, woo! (Ok so I'm cheating a little, but hey!)
I've already completed some of the goals, although I don't have enough goals to complete the 100.. but I will add more as they come to me :) I've also made a picture of my "someday" list, although I don't really like the fact that that sounds like it's going to be really far in the future.. I would like to complete as many of my "someday" goals as soon as possible! Although some will be a lot harder, and wayyy more expensive! Like visiting every continent ha!
Ooops I just realised I haven't put "move abroad" onto the list.. ah well, I will update that next time! I do definitely want to move abroad, hopefully to New Zealand! Eek!
But yes, this now has it's own category, and I will try to post updates on completing the goals, as I kind of haven't up till now.. i.e. horse-riding in Poland but didn't really update or write about that as a goal completed, just as it happened!
Anyway, like I have said before, it's awesome having these lists!
They do come out awfully blurry on here, you can always right click and view image to see them a little clearer :D

Pork stuffed cabbage

Den:2012-03-06 Kl: 15:22:28 / Cooking time / Kommentarer: 1

Ingredients
  • Long grain rice
  • 1 Cabbage (preferably big in size)
  • 1 egg
  • 500g pork mince
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Marjoram
  • 1 stock cube
  • Tomato passata
  • Double cream
  • Arrowroot or sauce flour
  • Vinegar

RECIPE

  1. Half cook the rice so it's a little cooked but still a bit hard.
  2. Put the pork mince, and egg into a big mixing bowl. Add salt, pepper and marjoram to taste. (You do need quite a bit)
  3. Add some rice and mix using your hands. (The amount of rice varies so just put in bit by bit and mix until it's about equal amounts - you don't want too much rice)
  4. Keep mixing with your hands until everything is completely mixed together.
  5. Boil some water with a bit of salt and vinegar in a pan.
  6. Carefully peel off the cabbage leaves, taking care not to tear them, and cut off the hard part on the outside (see picture below)
  7. Place the leaves in the pan. Leave in for a few seconds and then take out.
  8. Take a small amount of the meat mixture and put it in the middle of the leaf.
  9. Carefully fold the leaf over so that the meat is inside and the leaf doesn't fall open (you may need to remove some meat) You can look at the photos to see how this should look.
  10. Place carefully into a pan, on top of some left over cabbage leaves. (Place each one next to each other and ontop of each other as you go along, just make sure they don't fall apart)
  11. Once you are done, cover with water and bring to the boil.
  12. Mix the stock cube into some hot water and then pour into the pan.
  13. Add the tomato passata, cover and let it cook on a low heat for about an hour.

14. Finally, take a cup of the sauce out of the pan, and mix with some double cream. Add back into the pan.
Repeat but this time with the arrowroot or flour, to thicken the sauce.

Serve with some lovely freshly cooked potatoes, mashed with butter and cream:D

I was really looking forward to seeing this film for soo long. I'm a sucker for romance films, and Rachel Mcadams.. ah she is just so beautiful! I absolutely adore her and all her movies. But yes this seemed like a very "Notebook"-y kind of film, so definitely my thing!
Anyway, it was definitely a really beautiful film. It follows the story of a couple, who are completely in love and they get married, after which they have a car accident, and the woman loses her memory and forgets who he is. It's a truly touching story, and definitely made me cry!! It's the kind of film that makes you think about how things can change so quickly and it's just so sad!
I think the only disappointing things about the movie were 1. it was too short! and 2. the ending
Don't really like giving stuff away, but it was definitely not an ending that I would have thought of! Other than that I would definitely recommend going to see it if you are a romance film kind of person :D

Wednesday night

On Wednesday we went to Corp! School uniform night.. I still can't believe I got persuaded into going again - that place is so filthy, eww! But they do play really good cheesy music so it's always fun! :D A mix of good old tunes with new stuff makes it a great night. Although to be fair I think the older stuff makes everyone have more fun because it's just more.. erm.. well fun!! ;) Hearing songs like "sound of the underground" and "crazy" and "all the things she said" in a club is awesome! Did end up taking cab home even though Corp is like around the corner.. but it was like 2am. Not many pictures because my camera fails :(
