It's christmas timee again!

Den:2011-11-30 Kl: 17:12:10 / General / Kommentarer: 0
I've been so busy with everything lately that I've had barely any time to do anything. I gotta say, uni assignments are hardddd! :( I have like 3 due really soon and I haven't managed to do anything for them yet.
So it's been quite hard! Although yesterday I finally got a christmas tree! :D I was going to bring my own christmas tree back from home, seeing as we have two at home, but I forgot and since my parents won't be coming till christmas, it would be quite pointless to wait!
So we finally put up a christmas tree here, and with all the spare decorations I did some other stuff around the house, like wrap a lamp in tinsel and decorate handles on cupboards!
We watched a christmas film last night too :) Yay! I lovee christmas time! Although work is going to be hectic now :((
I decided to make the christmas tree silver and blue, because I think it looks more sophisticated when it has a colour scheme! Already one present under it, and not much time to buy more! Eek!

(This picture failed slightly...)

Lime Chicken!

Den:2011-11-28 Kl: 00:36:46 / Cooking time / Kommentarer: 2

  • Chicken breast pieces
  • Finely chopped fresh mint
  • Honey
  • Lime
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Low fat thick plain yoghurt

  1. Mix the mint, honey and lime juice (squeeze a lime) in a bowl, and add salt and pepper (to taste).
  2. Cover chicken pieces in the sauce, evenly so it's all covered, and cover with clingfilm. Put in the fridge for atleast 30 minutes.
  3. Take out the chicken, and remove from marinade.
  4. Preheat the oven grill to medium heat, and cook the chicken thoroughly whilst covered evenly in the marinade.
  5. Whilst the chicken is getting done, combine some yoghurt, mint, lime juice and a touch of lime rind, in a bowl.
  6. When the chicken is ready, serve with some nice salad and potatoes, with the sauce for dipping ;)

Breaking Dawn - Part 1

Den:2011-11-22 Kl: 22:38:04 / Movies / Kommentarer: 0

IMDB rating: 4.7/10
Anna's rating:9/10

The madly anticipated first part of the final Twilight film finally made cinemas last Thursday! I was so glad to go see it last week, but haven't had a chance to blog about it! I was so so impressed! I can't wait to see it again, and I definitely can't wait until part 2!
When the film first started, I thought that it would really disappoint me by straying from the book a lot, especially since the opening scene was not from the book at all! But as the film progressed, I was more and more happy and it was definitely amazing!
Although, having said that, if you haven't seen the other films/you're not a fan, I don't think it will be that great of a film, because not much action really happens in it.. It's mostly just the wedding and honeymoon and pregnancy, which for me was still great to watch!
I thought they ended it brilliantly, with an ending which makes you actually want to watch the next film!! (As opposed to Harry Potter deathly hallows part 1, which I thought ended in completely the wrong place).
I'm a much bigger fan of the Harry Potter books, but definitely prefer the Twilight saga films..they're just more well made - stick to the story and stuff!
Kirsten Stewart is also just so HOT! :)
Anyway, loved loved loved this film:)

World Food Festival

Den:2011-11-19 Kl: 23:35:05 / General / Kommentarer: 0
Tonight was the World Food Festival at our uni, and I have to say I was soo impressed! I agreed to help out on the day with the ISC, and to be honest wasn't really looking forward to it; I thought it would be rubbish!
But I couldn't have been more wrong! It was an amazing event, and I DEFINITELY want to go next year! (Probably as a guest though..lol)
There was lots of different societies who had their own stalls set up, with lots of national dishes for everyone to try out! It was really amazing and the atmosphere was great, with everyone just sort of radiating happiness (atleast at the food stalls;))
I didn't really brave any of the foods though, because I didn't have the patience to wait around with so many people, but I did have lots of desserts (fatty!) Quite impressed myself with the amount of different ones I tried, considering the fussy eater that I actually am.
Everyone was really lovely, and most of all the decorations were just on a whole new level of awesomeness! I mean check out the pineapple cups below! Haha!
I didn't stay for the afterparty, although I'm sure it would have been amazing!

Lasenza night out

Den:2011-11-19 Kl: 13:12:30 / General / Kommentarer: 0
After working till 10.30pm last night, I actually managed to go out..and stay out!
I got changed at work, and met Sarah at the station, after which we quickly dropped my stuff off at mine and then headed for Players to meet the rest of the Lasenza girls!
Although I don't particularly like Players, considering the half naked girls everywhere giving it a very sleazy feel, it was actually pretty fun! It was a tad weird seeing members of management after they'd been drinking but in a good way ;)
I actually had a skittles bomb, which I've been dying to try from ages!! Not sure if it counts towards my "day zero" project list, considering I didn't actually make it from scratch.. hmm.. But it was very very nice! Definitely better than the tequila. Blergh.
We went to Lava Lounge for a bit, didn't really like that much, barely played anything good :(
Then we (very slowly might I add) made our way to Embrace!
Apparently there were a lot of rumours that it's dead on a Friday, but it was actually pretty packed out, and we ended up having lots of fun!
After I got home at like 3am we were going to stay up all night, but didn't actually make it haha! I think we ended up going bed at like 4 something..

Wishing time

Den:2011-11-18 Kl: 12:57:45 / Wishlists / Kommentarer: 1
So I haven't done a wishlist post in a while, and I thought, considering christmas is coming up, it would be a good idea ;)
Maybe it can help you to get inspired aswell! haha!

So here goes! (In no particular order)

- Gilmore Girls Box Set

Gilmore Girls is an amazing series, and I used to love watching it on E4! Considering I no longer have that option, with work, uni and our crap signal, it would be great to have it on dvd! Alongside my collection of Friends, Lost and The O.C. ;)

- Rosetta Stone Software

I've wanted this for sooo long! I just can't believe how expensive it is! :( (Around £300 depending on the language and levels) I loved doing my Japanese GCSE and going to Japan for 2 weeks, and I would love to carry on with further levels of it :( Having said that, I am planning to do French and Spanish as well. I love learning new languages!! Rosetta Stone is supposed to be really good!

-Some nice jewellery

Ok I've never really liked getting jewellery as a present, but sometimes people can get a perfect piece ;) I've gotten some lovely earings and charms from my family before, and I am kind of craving some nice pieces again! Although I do need to get my ears re-pierced because they've closed up (oops..)
Here's some ideas;)
Traidcraft Online Shop
They do really beautiful jewellery that's also fairtrade! Yes, that's very appealing, and although quite pricey I think definitely worth it! My personal favourites include the Elephant Earings and Silver Heart Necklace(pictured above)

I never even heard of this shop until I worked at Meadowhall! It's brilliant though, and I love the wide selection of makes. Personal favourites include Thomas Sabo Charm Club Rose Quartz Bead Bracelet (oof, long name!) and the Silver Cubic Zirconia Heart Pendant and Necklace

-Some nice tights

Yes, although maybe not a present on its own, a nice cute pair of tights is the perfect accessory to a gift ;) I really do want some nice tights, considering all I really wear are skin and black tights, and I don't really tend to wear skirts or dresses in the winter. Some great stores are Topshop , of course, not much need to be said there, Tights tights tights, a fun website with really a huge variety, and apparently we Lasenza are going to start stocking tights soon too! We have some in the store, not sure how long it will take for them to appear online!

-A full body massage

Ahh, the swedish back massage at uni made me want to have one every week! I know massages tend to be expensive, something like £40 an hour, but they are SO worth it! Trust me!! I can't wait to get one again hehe. A voucher is just a PERFECT present ;)

- Hair extensions.
Yes, I've wanted them for so long! My hair is long I know, but I want volume :( I had a consultation and apparently it would be like £500 or something ridiculous like that. :(
Although I personally wouldn't go for aftercare products are a great gift too! Considering they do tend to be quite pricey!

I'm waiting for a magical £500 to appear so I can get proper ones:P

- A portable phone charger

Amazing invention. Very very practical. Need I say more? ;) Duracell do one for just £20, and ever since I saw the advert I can't stop wanting it!!

-Gift Vouchers
Of course there's gift vouchers, which can never go wrong ;) I'd personally love some River Island or Topshop ones! :P Need to do some new clothes shopping, it's so cold up north!

Pancake time!

Den:2011-11-17 Kl: 16:01:25 / Cooking time / Kommentarer: 1
I made these gorgeous pancakes that my mum used to make, and I'm sooo proud of myself that they actually came out so good :P Everyone loved them, and we had them with chocolate spread, raspberry sauce, and just on their own ;)
They're really lovely and sweet, and can be eaten as a tasty snack!

  • 300g of flour
  • 150g sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 spoon of bicarbonate of soda
  • 125ml water
  • 125ml milk
  • pinch of salt
  • oil

  1. Separate the egg whites from the yolk.
  2. Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt
  3. Pour into a large bowl, the flour, mixed with the soda and sugar.
  4. Add 2 yolks, water and milk, and mix (with a blender)
  5. Add in portions to the mix, the froth from the egg whites, mixing with a spoon
  6. Pour out with a spoon onto a frying pan with preheated oil, on a small flame
  7. Turn around and fry until lightly golden on both sides :)

Why do people make/wear perfumes that are so strong you might aswell spray alcohol on your body?
I have a tendency to wear lots of different perfumes, although I wear one at a time for a certain period of time.
I've gone through a fair share of good and bad ones, so I thought I'd just jot down my best ones!
My ultimate favourite is D&G Collection Pour Femme, no.3

Quite pricey though, at £37 a bottle, but it's just amazing! With its subtle watermelon and kiwi scent, it's so light and fruity!

After that I have lots of other favourites, but in no order :)
Definitely love Britney Spears - Midnight Fantasy, although Fantasy and Curious are both great scents too, I think they get quite sickening after a while.
The perfect perfume will never get sickening, and you won't be able to smell it on yourself (if you can, apparently that means that's not your scent;))

Daisy by Marc Jacobs is also brilliant, as well as Prada by Prada

There was also a perfume I loved, I THINK it was one of Paris Hilton's range, but I cannot remember the name. Someone once wore it in our shop, and I thought it smelt amazing, and although I asked her I couldn't remember later on to buy it :(

I love perfumes which make me go "oohhh" when someone passes me wearing them, without feeling overwhelmed.

I got these lovely new boots from my grandma, and I decided to wear them to uni a while ago, and have no idea what I'm going to do! Sheffield is really really hilly, and walking up and down hills all the time in heels is just not good. I made it half way to my lecture and stopped!
Sucks for me, because they're really nice!

Wednesday night I went to Corporation for the first time, and I gotta say, people aren't joking when they say it's filthy!
I went to Mitra's flat first, and then we went to Julia's for her birthday pre-drinks, where we played a really weird random drinking game, that involved me drinking more wine than I would have liked.. after which we went to Corporation (note to self: pre buy tickets next time!)
It was really dirty, the floor was completely wet and sticky and just ew! The walls were wet aswell, so after leaning on them a few times my back was all wet!
But it was a great night, involving a lot of cheesy music like "Hit me Baby one more time", "YMCA", "Teenage Dirtbag", "Dancing Queen" and many many others!
It was School Disco theme, so everyone was actually dressed up in "uniform", which felt like a huge deja vu, quite missed being at Hendon!
I wasn't planning to stay till late, but because they kept playing great songs I ended up staying until it shut!
Completely ruined my work shoes though :(

Evanescence Live @ Hammersmith Apollo, London

Den:2011-11-06 Kl: 19:25:07 / Evanescence Live 2011/2012 / Kommentarer: 2
So yesterday I woke up at 6am so I could get the 7am train down to London in order to see my favourite band of all time - Evanescence!
I got to the venue at 2.30pm, and crazily thought that I would be the first one there... Haha how wrong was I? There was already so many people there I was seriously upset thinking I wouldn't be at the front :( We sat outside until about 5pm when they made us move and then everyone stood until like 6pm (why?...) and then for another hour once we were let inside.. my legs were killing already before the show even started!
Thankfully, and I am so happy, I got to be in the 2nd row, which was amazing! I was sort of between two women aswell so I could see perfect! I met this lovely girl there too which was nice, considering I went alone :)
The Pretty Reckless came on around 8pm, and I have to say, Taylor Momsen is so sexy on stage! They put on an awesome show, it was great! She's very talented, hot and I love her, but then Evanescence came on stage and you just can't compete with Amy Lee..
I don't think there is anyone out there who has a voice as amazing as Amy.. It gives me goosebumps just listening to her.
They came on with "What You Want" which is a great choice of opening song, and went straight onto "Going Under", which of course made the crowd go crazy ;) everyone loves an old hit..
She puts on an amazing show, and to be honest I wish it lasted longer.. Even though I was really hot and a few people already fainted, I think everyone in the audience would have been so happy...
Words just can't describe how amazing and inspiring and beautiful she is! She's the one person I truly look up to, and you better never cuss her infront of me unless you want a big argument ;)
My camera was being really shit and kept saying its out of battery but then coming back to life.. Grrr!!!
It was amazing seeing them again, I saw them at the same venue 5 years ago in 2006, doing their Open Door tour, but this was so much better :)
The setlist was;

1. What You Want
2. Going Under
3. The Other Side
4. Weight of the World
5. The Change
6. Made of Stone
7. Lost in Paradise
8. My Heart Is Broken
9. Lithium
10. Sick
11. Oceans
12. Call Me When You're Sober
12. Imaginary
13. Bring Me To Life

Then everyone (of course!) screamed for more.. and they came back and gave us not one, but three encore songs ;)

14. Never Go Back
15. Your Star
16. My Immortal

I just can't describe what an amazing experience it was, I decided to wait outside the back door after the show, considering I was so upset after I didn't get to do it last time..
I was expecting to wait an hour or more, but Amy actually came out pretty quickly, although I was already shivering because all I wore was a tshirt and zip up top, and she was kind enough to make her way slowly through everyone who waited, and give everyone an autograph.. Unfortunately the security said we weren't allowed to take pictures with her, and I wanted one so badly :( I heard someone saying that if you ask, she would do it because she wouldn't say no, but I just couldn't get anything other than "thank you" out of my mouth! Soo frozen up from the shock of her being so close to me.. There were so many things I wanted to say, like how amazingly brilliant she was, how she's so inspiring, ask why they always go to Hammersmith and not somewhere bigger.. But I just couldn't speak.. even when girls around me asked her for hugs and she gave them :O I couldn't ask her :( GUTTED!!!

But yeah, amazing show, never going to forget it, and DEFINITELY hoping so much that they will come back really soon :(

Sell out both nights;)

Yes, this is  how close I was to Amy.. Ahh! She's just too perfect!

I love sitting in the park, it's so calming for some strange reason. Just sitting there, watching the trees and animals, it's really great! I guess it's a good thing we live in the greenest city in the UK right? Still have to make that trip to the Peak District, although not sure when exactly! Although I have a feeling I'm not going to want to leave...I love the peace and quiet.

Happy Halloween!

Den:2011-11-02 Kl: 00:02:10 / General / Kommentarer: 0
Slightly late, but still!
I have to say, I've never really seen a city which embraces Halloween in such a way as Sheffield! My uni was full of full-on decorations, including an actual coffin in the middle of students union, which, come 31st of October, actually included a person inside it that occasionally decided to pop out and scream. Yes I did nearly suffer a heart attack.
The shops all had decorations in the windows, and the whole city centre got shut down from traffic for "Fright Night" - an annual Halloween festival!
Thousands of completely transformed ghosts, zombies, monsters, and witches took to the streets of Sheffield, for lots of spooky activities! I have to admit, although I knew they were all just average everyday people dressed up, I did actually get pretty scared!
There was lots of stuff, fairground rides, hot dog stands, even a radio show!
We spent Halloween night just watching lots of scary movies! I've finally watched Saw 1 & 2, and I have to admit I actually liked it! haha!
Hope everyone had a great night!
